Senior DevOps Engineer

Quad Analytix is an exciting, early stage general purpose Analytics startup headquartered in the Bay Area-CA. We focus on harnessing e-commerce and other information gathered from a variety of sources, which are then cleansed, normalized and analyzed to create visualizations that provide meaningful insights to our customers.

You’ll get to build our infrastructure and platforms, help design our architecture, fix things when they break and do it with smart, down-to-earth people that enjoy having fun while working together.


  • Design, build and manage all of Quad’s public cloud-based infrastructures and platforms (including compute, databases, networks, storage, etc.) using modern microservices and distributed systems architectures
  • Provide day to day support for the operations of all of our infrastructure, platform, applications and services in our development, testing, performance and production environments.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to build or use tools and scripts to automate anything that can be automated.
  • Create infrastructure and platforms that are flexible, reliable and can rapidly scale.
  • Monitor and improve performance and stability.
  • Investigate failures, fix them and execute root-cause analysis.
  • Interact with and effectively communicate with your DevOps colleagues and cross-functional teams that span our organization.


  • Operating Systems:
    • Expert at working with Linux (Amazon Linux/CentOS) and Open Source Technologies
  • Proficient at Cloud Based Provisioning/Automation and Familiarity with Hosted Infrastructure:
    • AWS based Provisioning (AMIs, EC2, S3, EBS, RDS, CloudWatch, Cloud-Formation, Security    Groups, Network Routing/ACLs, VPC, ELB/ASGs, Redshift).
    • Knowledge of other Cloud Implementations and Hybrid Private/Public implementations.
    • Skilled user of configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, AWS CloudFormation or SaltStack.
    • Able to write advanced level Python, Ruby or Perl scripts.
  • Big Data Skills:
    • Comfortable administering  Elasticsearch, Hadoop, AWS Redshift, SQL and HBase.
  • SysAdmin/Network Admin Skills:
    • Great system and network administration skills
  • Build and Release Automation:
    • Familiar with and able to administer and manage Continuous Integration (CI)Continuous Deployment (CD) software pipelines and related infrastructure
    • Knowledge of Git, Bitbucket, implementation with Bamboo, Jenkins, Artifactory, and CircleCI, or similar.
  • AWS CodeDeploy or similar with regards to Release Implementation and Management.


  • Helpful to have worked with the Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • 2+ years supporting mission-critical online and customer facing applications
  • Comfortable in IaaS, PaaS environments
  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and knowledge is preferred.
  • Maintain regular and reliable work attendance


  • Ability to build strong relationships with Developers.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively independently and in teams (local and distributed)
  • Intellectually curious, with a passion for continuous learning and growing professionally
  • Must be able to provide off-hours support as needed for emergency situations.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work well in an interrupt driven environment, show initiative and respond quickly in a fast paced environment.
